A project by multicultural young women, for multicultural young women.
The program explores the intersection of racism, discrimination and gender in the creation of barriers to leadership and opportunity.
Through the program, young women are empowered to develop and consolidate their leadership skills and capacities, and to stand up and speak out so they are recognised more broadly as the true leaders they are.
With youth participation and community development at the heart of the program design, young women are engaged to review, develop and deliver training content with a lens of lived experience.
Upon completion of the training, participants are then supported to practice leadership through the design and implementation of a youth-led initiative.
In 2019-2020, the program was delivered in Melbourne’s west and in Ballarat.

Lead Yourself, Lead Others is supported and delivered in partnership with Our Watch.
Who can join?
Young women from multicultural backgrounds are eligible to participate. Ages vary per program delivery but range from 14-18 or 18-25 years old.
Peer facilitators are multicultural young women aged 18-25 years old.
Commitment to a two-day intensive leadership-training program, followed by the option to participate in planning and delivering a youth-led project.
