A project by multicultural young women, for multicultural young women.
The program explores the intersection of racism, discrimination and gender in the creation of barriers to leadership and opportunity. Through the program, young women are empowered to develop and consolidate their leadership skills and capacities, and to stand up and speak out so they are recognised more broadly as the true leaders they are.
With youth participation and community development at the heart of the program design, young women are engaged to review, develop and deliver training content with a lens of lived experience.
Upon completion of the training, participants are then supported to practice leadership through the design and implementation of a youth-led initiative.
In 2019, the program is being delivered in Melbourne’s west and in Ballarat.
Lead Yourself, Lead Others is supported and delivered in partnership with Our Watch.
“It was wonderful to be in a space with other passionate women and sharing our experiences of the world together to brainstorm topics that we would discuss with other young people. The CMY team were extremely supportive of our ideas and helped us blossom by providing us with their expertise.”Jennifer, participant
LYLO is delivered with the support of and in partnership with Our Watch.
