ENVISION offers a variety of online activities for newly-arrived young people to build their confidence, as well as identify and work towards their personal and professional goals, including:

  • Peer-led introductory information sessions on topics such as the education system in Victoria, employment skills and rights, mental health, getting involved in sports, volunteering, racism and discrimination, and cyber safety
  • Individual & group “mapping” sessions exploring strengths, needs, aspirations and pathways to employment
  • Weekly group program to build connections and develop skills (6-8 weeks)
  • Leadership workshops and volunteering opportunities

For selected young people, ENVISION offers the opportunity to be matched with a professional mentor for support in engaging in employment – see ENVISION Employment for more information.

Become a youth volunteer

Do you want to:

  • Help newly-arrived young people to learn about life in Australia
  • Share your experiences to empower others

We are currently looking for young people aged 18-25, in the North-West of Melbourne, with settlement experience, who are passionate about working with newly-arrived young people to become Peer Facilitators.

CMY will provide training to Peer Facilitators on leadership, facilitation and presentation skills. Peer Facilitators will plan and deliver basic information sessions to newly-arrived young people in Melbourne’s South-East and North-West regions.

Topics covered include: Leadership and empowerment, Education Pathways, Mental Health, Racism and Discrimination, Sports, Employment Rights and Volunteering, amongst others.

Peer Facilitators will also work with the project officers to plan and deliver workshop sessions (currently delivered online) that focus on goal setting, practicing English, building social connections and gaining important knowledge about existing support services.

Workshops for schools

Free information sessions offered to newly arrived young people aged 12-25 years.  Presented and facilitated by CMY staff and Peer Facilitators, these workshops focus on personal insight, individual goal setting, developing new skills and helping young people achieve their aspirations.
