Applications now open for Volunteer Peer Facilitators aged 18-25, who have settlement experience.


ENVISION offers a variety of activities for newly-arrived young people to build their confidence, as well as identify and work towards their personal and professional goals, including:

  • Peer-led introductory information sessions on topics such as the education system in Victoria, employment skills and rights, mental health, getting involved in sports, volunteering, racism and discrimination, and cyber safety
  • Individual & group “mapping” sessions exploring strengths, needs, aspirations and pathways to employment
  • Weekly group program to build connections and develop skills (6-8 weeks)
  • Leadership workshops and volunteering opportunities

ENVISION offers the first step for newly-arrived young people to seamlessly transition into their communities. For selected young people, ENVISION offers the opportunity to be matched with a professional mentor for support in engaging in employment – see ENVISION Employment for more information.

ENVISION is funded by the Australian Government through the Settlement Engagement and Transitions Support (SETS) program.

Who can join?

Participants aged 12 to 25, who:

  • Are newly-arrived and have been in Australia 5 years or less
  • Live, study or work in the North West or South East regions of Melbourne

Get involved

Become a Volunteer Peer Facilitator! To apply you must be aged 18 to 25, and:

  • Live, study or work in the North West or South East regions of Melbourne
  • Have settlement experience (came to Australia as a refugee or migrant)
  • Be passionate about addressing issues faced by young people from refugee and migrant backgrounds
  • Be interested in planning and facilitating information sessions for newly-arrived young people
  • Be committed to participating in and attending all ENVISION meetings and sessions.

Successful applicants will undertake training in leadership, facilitation and presentation skills, before delivering youth-led information sessions to newly arrived young people. They will also have the opportunity to co-design and co-deliver other group programs within ENVISION.

Peer Facilitators must be available to attend an induction day on Saturday 21st of March 2020 and a training on Tuesday 24th March 2020.
