Better Together: Partnerships in the Out-of-School-Hours Learning Support Sector
Every week in Victoria, Out-of-School-Hours Learning Support Programs (OSHLSPs) support thousands of young people through high quality tuition and learning support sessions.
These programs are delivered by a wide range of community organisations, schools and volunteer groups. In many cases, OSHLSPs are working and collaborating with other organisations in some capacity.
This report delves into the dynamics of partnerships within the OSHLSP sector, examining their formation and the mutual benefits they extend to all involved parties, as well as some of the key challenges. The data and analysis highlights the pragmatic approach of OSHLSPs in leveraging partnerships, given the sector’s reliance on limited, sporadic, and diverse funding streams, as well as the crucial role played by volunteers. However, partnerships are also valued for how they enable and strengthen community, and bring together like-minded organisations to learn and work together.
