CMY offers training for school staff, coordinators and volunteer tutors currently active in an Out-of-School-Hours Learning Support Program. Sessions are offered regularly and can be delivered at your club, school or at CMY.
We provide a range of modules suitable for different organisations involved in education and learning support for students from a refugee or migrant background. MY Education training and professional development is supported by the Victorian Government. All training is free for Out-of-School-Hours Learning Support Programs run by a community, school or religious organisation and targeting refugee and migrant students. If your school is part of the Refugee Education Support Program you are also eligible for free training.
Education training is pleased to offer FREE training sessions for Homework Clubs (OSHLSPs) at our Carlton venue in 2018. We will also continue to provide training by request at venues of your choice across Victoria. MY Education has a range of other modules for OSHLSPs.
What our participants have said:
"I have learnt how to better help students with language difficulties and how to structure sessions. I will use these skills to better engage with students and help them to learn"
"The training session was excellent and I picked up additional information despite having tutored in the homework club for 7 years."
"The session made me realise how important it is to acknowledge students’ cultures and to make me aware of all the different aspects of communication. I feel like I am better equipped to deal with any communication problem arising from cultural differences with my students."
"A very professional, engaging and interactive session and very well structured."
