Speak Up Workshops
We’ve heard people are TIRED of seeing incel behaviour and toxic masculinity ruin healthy relationships and force young boys into rigid roles. If you feel the same way, come along to one (or both!) of the workshops hosted by the Centre for Multicultural Youth. The sessions are all created by young people for young people, they’ll get into the good, the bad and the ugly surrounding gender equity, masculinity and the manosphere ๐ Find out more info below โฌ๏ธ
Speak Up! is a primary prevention project using the leadership, unique identities and experiences of multicultural young people to promote understanding of gender equity and consent.
Come along to deepen your understanding of gender equality and work together to find solutions to these issues in the community. Topics that we will discuss include:
๐กWhat does masculinity really mean and when does it become toxic?
๐กWhat are cultural understandings of gender roles and how do we respect culture while still promoting gender equity for all?
๐กHow does the manosphere intentionally conflate cultural identity with misogyny?
๐กHow do young people resist toxic masculinity in safe ways?
Select from one of two workshops below – content will be the same in both workshops. Workshop is best suited for young people aged 16-24 years old.
