Youth Wellness Day

Our Tiaal Mi Goa group, a mental health collaboration between young people from CMY and Headspace, recently held a successful first event. Focusing on creating a culturally safe space for young people to get together, socialise, and talk about wellbeing – the Youth Wellness Day was created and held at Barkly Square, Ballarat.

Thu, program participant with Leaphea, beauty therapist

The day included beauty facial masks organised by a talented young person who works as a beauty therapist, water colour painting classes, terrarium making, a relaxing hypnotherapy session, lunch, games, music, chats, healthy snacks and a facilitated wellbeing discussion.

Around 40 young people from Ballarat, Horsham and Nhill attended the day during September school holidays, with those from the Wimmera traveling up and back in a day via bus.

Xander, program participant

“l had an amazing time – meeting other young people from different cultural backgrounds was so much fun. We shared stories about where we come from and other things we love to do, it was an amazing experience and there was great participation from youth.”
