Reconnect (DJSIR)

The Reconnect program, in conjunction with the Department of Jobs, Skills, Industry and Regions (DJSIR) and relevant education and employment providers, supports young people and adults with holistic services that successfully support them back into education, training or employment. 

The project is delivered by the Centre for Multicultural Youth (CMY) and primarily supports young people from migrant and refugee backgrounds, while remaining open to others.

To participate, you must meet one of the following eligibility criteria :

  • Live in the City of Wyndham or the City of Melton areas  
  • Young person 17 to 19 years old:
    • not engaged in education or training for six months or more (less than 8 hours per week)
    • have been, or are currently on, Youth Justice Orders. 
  • Aged between 20-64 years:
    • Unemployed for six months or more (less than 8 hours per week) and not engaged in education or training for six months or more (less than 8 hours per week)  
  • Asylum seekers; a person without citizenship: 
    • Hold or have applied for any humanitarian, protection, or refugee visa in Australia; and/or Holding a Bridging Visa A (BVA) for this purpose. 
  • Out of Home Care: Aged 17-64 years and have current or previous experience with Child Protection.
