Culturally Responsive Youth Practice
Explore the essential skills and knowledge required for effective work with young people from migrant and refugee backgrounds.
Our Culturally Responsive Youth Practice training is suitable for anyone working with multicultural young people, their families and communities. Previous participants have included librarians, coaches, committees, case managers, youth workers, social workers, volunteers and other front-line staff as well as managers.
We provide professional development for practitioners across a range of sectors, including government, local council, business, libraries, education, health, welfare, justice, and sports and recreation.
At CMY, our mission is to create a society where multicultural young people live a life where they are connected and can fully reach their potential.
Our public sessions are offered at a discounted rate to enable more organisations or individuals who may otherwise not be able to attend our group training programs. We believe that anyone who works with young people from migrant or refugee backgrounds should be able to access high quality training without financial barriers.

Duration: half day, from 9:30 am to 1:00 pm
Prerequisites: There are no formal prerequisites.

Meet our Facilitator
Ashlea Henley (she/her) holds a Bachelor of Criminology and Justice from Navitas College of Public Safety and is undertaking a Master of Global Studies (with a minor in Development) from RMIT University. In January 2023, Ashlea joined CMY as a Sector Development Officer, bringing her over eight years of experience in the non-profit sector. Her diverse background spans law, disability, refugee advocacy, and higher education. With a commitment to creating better systems and services for young people from migrant and refugee backgrounds, Ashlea aspires to contribute to a culturally responsive sector. Her approach involves developing and delivering training, creating resources, and engaging with networks in the broader community.
