Culturally Responsive Youth Practice (Online) – Oct 2026

Improving cross-cultural practice for working with young people and communities from migrant and refugee backgrounds.

Our Culturally Responsive Youth Practice training provides a space for anyone interested in learning more about working with multicultural young people, or reflect on their own cultural perspectives, assumptions and practice. Participants will build a deeper awareness of key skills and introduce practical strategies that shape how they work with young people, families and communities from migrant and refugee backgrounds.

Expected Learning Outcomes

  • Explore the complexities of culture and its influence on our own worldview ​
  • Examine what implicit bias is and how it is relevant to cultural responsiveness ​
  • Build awareness of the knowledge, skills and attitudes that support a culturally responsive approach ​
  • Identify culturally responsive strategies for effective work with young people from migrant and refugee backgrounds​

Duration: half day, from 1:00 pm to 4:30 pm.

Prerequisites: There are no formal prerequisites.

Course Delivery: Online via Zoom. Details will be shared prior to the training.

Cancellation and Refund Policy

  • Refunds:
    Refunds are available for cancellations made at least 7 days before the training date. Unfortunately, we’re unable to offer refunds for cancellations made within 7 days of the training or after the training has taken place.
  • Ticket Transfers:
    If you’re unable to attend, you may transfer your registration to another person at no extra cost. Please let us know at least 24 hours before the training so we can update our records.
  • No‑shows and late cancellations:
    If a refund is not requested at least 7 days before the training date, or if you do not attend on the day, the ticket cannot be transferred to a future training.
  • Punctuality:
    Please arrive on time. Late arrivals will not be admitted, as late entry is disruptive to the training.

About CMY
The Centre for Multicultural Youth (CMY) is a non-profit organisation based in Victoria and has been shaping culture alongside multicultural young people and communities since 1988. CMY works to address systemic barriers that impact multicultural young people by:
