Shout Out Speaker Request

About Shout Out
Shout Out speaker requests are administered by the Centre for Multicultural Youth. We will use our knowledge of events and our speakers to find the best possible fit for you.

All of our speakers are based in Melbourne and can travel within and around the Melbourne area for speaking opportunities. All proceeds from the booking fees and donations go directly towards the training and recruitment of Shout Out speakers. The below prices are indicative only and may not adequately cover the details of your request.

BOOKING FEE: $50 +GST

PRESENTATIONS
- Up to 15 minutes: $100 +GST (including Q&A)
- Up to one hour: $150 +GST (including Q&A)

OTHER
- Panellist: $150 +GST (one hour including a short presentation and Q&A)
- MC/Event host: $150 +GST for the first hour (+ $100 per hour for every subsequent hour)
- Facilitation: $150 +GST for the first hour (+ $100 per hour for every subsequent hour)

Whilst we will make every possible effort to fulfill your request, the bookings will be ultimately determined by the capacity and availability of the speakers. Please submit your booking request at least three weeks in advance of your event.

Speaker safety and comfort
The safety of our speakers is paramount. Some of the issues they talk about can be sensitive and can result in challenging behaviour or confronting questions from audience members.

Costs and payment
The aim of Shout Out is to promote the views and perspectives of multicultural young people as worthwhile and valuable to public discussions.

Furthermore, CMY aims to sustain the Shout Out program into the future as well as provide the speakers with learning and development opportunities.

As such, we have included a booking fee to support the speakers’ ongoing learning and recruitment as well as a pricing structure payment that will go directly to the speakers for their presentation.

You will receive an invoice for the full amount upon confirmation of your speaker. CMY will then make the payment to the speaker on your behalf.

CANCELLATION FEE

In case of cancellation, please provide as much notice as possible. If a cancellation occurs within 7 days (one week) from the presentation date, a 50% cancellation fee will be enforced. If the cancellation occurs within 48 hours of the presentation date, then 100% cancellation fee will be enforced.

If a speaker cancels, we will endeavor to find a replacement. In the event that we cannot find a replacement, there will be no cost to the booking organisation/person.
CREATING A SAFE SPACE FOR SPEAKERS

In preparing for your event, CMY requests that your organisation is mindful of creating a safe space for our speaker, as they share their views and perspectives based on their lived experiences and expertise.

As many events are now hosted online, please be advised that as part of the booking process you agree to moderate audience feedback and questions via chatrooms, break out rooms and other forms of verbal or written feedback online. Should there be any incidents of concern, please kindly report them to CMY so that we can follow up with our speakers.

Next steps
Once you submit your request, you should receive an automated email confirming your request has been received.

The Youth Leadership Team at CMY will then endeavour to match a speaker for your event. We may contact you for further information or clarification if needed.

Please note, our staff work part time and need to liaise with a number of young people prior to confirming your booking. However, if you do not hear from CMY within one week of making your request, please contact us on (03) 9340 3700.

Once a speaker has been confirmed, you will receive an email that connects you with the speaker and provides their contact details. It will also ask you to outline:

- Transport and parking options

- How to access the venue

- Who will be the contact person on the day and their contact number

- Technical equipment including audio visual.

From here, you will be able to liaise directly with the speaker regarding any changes to or cancellation of your event.

If your event is cancelled for any reason, please advise both the speaker and CMY with as much notice as possible. If a booked speaker needs to cancel, they will inform you as soon as possible and CMY will aim to find a replacement.
SHOUT OUT SPEAKERS BUREAU USER AGREEMENT

1. Shout Out is administered by the Centre for Multicultural Youth (CMY), a Victorian not-for-profit organisation supporting young people from migrant and refugee backgrounds to build better lives in Australia. CMY will endeavour to find the most appropriate speaker for your event but does not guarantee the quality of the service.

2. The views and opinions expressed by Shout Out speakers are not necessarily those of CMY.

3. Fees are negotiated between the booker and CMY.

4. CMY is committed to protecting your privacy, read the Privacy Policy on our website for more information.
