Creating a Child-Safe OSHLSP for Volunteers
Our e-learning modules are self-paced, interactive modules that are available any time on The LBB Hub. For first-time users, please register following the steps listed here.
- Running Your OSHLSP
This module has everything a coordinator of an OSHLSP needs to know about designing a new program, managing the various components, engaging the community, and extending a program. Each of the sections has short courses on topics such as volunteer management, developing partnerships, child safety, fundraising, and more. The module is designed to easily browse for what you need, or go through the whole module in one sitting. It’s perfect for new and experienced coordinators alike, and even for volunteers who would like to deepen their knowledge in these areas.
- Refugee Journeys into Victorian Schools
Increase your understanding of what it is like for students to begin school in a new place, explore challenges for students from refugee backgrounds, as well as their resilience and resourcefulness and reflect on ways to provide support.
- Navigating the Victorian School System
An informative, interactive resource about pathways through the education system in Victoria. Particularly useful for newly arrived families and young people, or the staff and volunteers who support them.
- Family Engagement in OSHLSPs
This module is designed to assist OSHLSP coordinators and tutors to meaningfully engage families from refugee and migrant backgrounds. It explores the benefits and addresses some of the challenges of engaging families in OSHLSPs. It also provides some practical tips to help in building collaborative relationships with families.
- Cross-Cultural Awareness
Deepen your understanding of concepts around culture and identity. This module also explores the pre-migration and migration experience of young people, and unpacks some of the barriers to good settlement.
