The Centre for Multicultural Youth (CMY) will increase the support available for Victorian young people and their families, with the launch of the MY Family project this month.
From 1 July, MY Family will build the capacity of existing community services to provide appropriate support to young people of migrant and refugee backgrounds and their families. This work will include the development of a range of tools and online resources, all of which will incorporate the perspective of young people and their families.
“The new MY Family project seeks to build other services’ understanding of the family and community context of young people from refugee and migrant backgrounds,” said Heather Stewart, Senior Project Officer MY Family.
“As part of this work we hope to deliver training sessions, establish learning circles and engage with different groups to see how we can improve support for migrant and refugee families.”
MY Family is funded by the Department of Social Services. The project is currently in initial development stages and CMY will provide more information about its partners and outcomes in the near future.
