Statewide Forum: Standing up to racism in schools

Addressing racism and discrimination within schools and the broader community is challenging. Every school, every student, every staff member and every community is at a different stage of the journey, and has a unique context. Acknowledging this, we have developed Schools Standing Up to Racism: a new resource for Victorian secondary schools.

This Statewide Forum provides an opportunity for educators and school leadership to learn about the new resource, as well as hearing directly from multicultural young people on the impacts of racism in the school environment.

The forum will feature:

  • Q&A with young people with lived experiences of racism in school setting
  • Launch of Schools Standing Up To Racism, a new resource for Victorian secondary schools
  • Special guest Dr Naomi Priest from Australian National University, shares findings of Speak Out Against Racism (SOAR) research

This forum will be held via Zoom. Please register via Eventbrite and meeting information and passwords will be emailed to registered participants before the event.

Schools Standing Up to Racism is a collaboration between the Centre for Multicultural Youth and the Victorian Department of Education and Training.
