We believe that everyone should be able to feel like they belong and can participate fully in society.
For many, the first step to feeling that sense of belonging comes from securing a job. Finding work is often the number one priority for the young people we work with; employment enables them to achieve economic security and contributes to building a positive sense of identity.
We understand the challenges that young people from migrant and refugee backgrounds face when looking for employment in Australia. We work with young people who are experiencing barriers to finding work – matching them with volunteer mentors who support them to become job-ready, providing links to employment opportunities and workplace experience, and building valuable networks.
CMY also partners with employers who believe business can be a force for good and who are passionate about developing an inclusive and diverse workforce.
Our programs
Employment Empowers
The Employment Empowers program supports young people from refugee and migrant backgrounds who are looking to secure meaningful work and fulfill their potential. The program engages volunteer mentors to work 1:1 with young people, supporting and encouraging them towards finding employment, pursuing their career goals, and succeeding in the Australian workplace.
We also partner with employers to match business needs with young job-seekers. Through access to direct employment opportunities, traineeships, and workplace experience through the program, migrant and refugee young people build invaluable networks and form the building blocks for their working life.
