What is the YAG?

The Youth Advisory Group (YAG) is an exciting initiative which aims to provide an opportunity for young people from refugee and migrant backgrounds to have input into CMY’s strategic planning and program management processes. At CMY, we are dedicated to ensuring that programs and policy directions are youth led and/or influenced, recognising young people as ‘experts.’ CMY appreciates the significant youth contribution in building communities and stresses the importance of the YAG to ensure our work continually reflects and addresses their issues and needs to further support and empower them.

Program Details

YAG members will be provided with a training session including overview of CMY and induction to the role. Additional training from CMY’s Short Burst Series (ie leadership, team building, project management, media and fundraising) will be offered and provided to the group as requested.

8-10 YAG members will be recruited to meet with CMY representatives on a quarterly basis (four per financial year) with the first meeting to be held in October 2010.

Meetings will take place at CMY’s Carlton Office for approximately two hours, at a time suitable where possible to all YAG members and CMY representatives.
