What is Tutor Training?

CMY trains volunteers to assist students from refugee and migrant backgrounds in Out of School Hours Learning Support Programs (OSHLSPs) across Victoria, as part of the Learning Beyond the Bell program.

Program Details

OSHLSP tutors work with primary and secondary students who require additional learning support outside school hours. Tutors may work individually or with small groups of students and provide assistance with literacy, homework subjects or general study skills. Volunteers play an important role in improving the confidence of young people, helping them both socially and academically to participate in school in a more meaningful way. The commitment is one evening tuition session each week. There are volunteering opportunities available in schools, community centres and libraries across Melbourne.
