What is Unite 4 Justice?

Unite 4 Justice is a dynamic, anti-discrimination leadership program designed for young people from diverse (refugee, migrant and Australian born) backgrounds. Unite 4 Justice is being delivered across the City of Brimbank from September 2011 to August 2012 by CMY.

Program Details

Unite 4 Justice aims to provide young people from three high schools in the area with the opportunity to develop their leadership skills and confidence, and to enhance their participation as leaders in schools and community life. Upon completion of the leadership training component, the young leaders will develop and deliver youth-led initiatives that promote respect and understanding of diversity and tackle issues of social cohesion.

The program is designed to support diverse young leaders in the City of Brimbank to achieve their goals through training and mentoring support.

  • Training - youth leaders participate in a six-day leadership training program that includes a range of different topics and activities such as communication, leadership, team building, conflict resolution, social cohesion, values, stereotypes, and project management.

  • Mentoring - each youth group will be linked in with 2-3 mentors who have a range of different backgrounds, interests, skills and networks who will work together with the group to support the achievement of identified aims and objectives through skills and knowledge development, group development and youth-led initiative development.

Projects that participants will be undertaking this year include a music and dance festival, a food and fashion festival and a sport tournament.
