Co-ordinators’ Guide

The REPP Project has developed a guide for co-ordinators and agencies wanting to start an OSHLSP. I wish it was every day… Out of School Hours Learning Support Programs- A Guide for Co-ordinators covers a range of issues involved in setting up and running an OSHLSP including:
  • Assessing what your community needs in an OSHLSP;
  • Developing a model;
  • Finding funding;
  • Recruiting and supporting tutors;
  • Promotion of your program;
  • Managing your program;
  • Evaluating your program;
  • Developing best practices in your program.

Case Studies

I wish it was every day… Case Studies from Out of School Hours Learning Support Programs provides case studies from five OSHLSPs and illustrates a range of approaches for tutoring and homework help models.

The case studies highlight a broad range of effective support strategies and, in particular, practices that are effective in supporting refugee background students.

OSHLSPs included in the case studies are:


  • Aim High at Debney Park Secondary College;
  • Collingwood English Language School
  • Sudanese Australian Integrated Learning (SAIL) Program
  • Edmund Rice Centre
  • Banksia Gardens Study Group

Tutor Training Resources

The Refugee Education Partnership Project has developed a series of resources to support Out of School Hours Learning Support Programs (OSHLSPs). These include:

  • A training package for volunteer tutors delivered by REPP and AMES
  • A training handbook for tutors (this can be downloaded below)
  • A handbook (downloadable from the link below) and DVD for coordinators and organisations wishing to deliver their own training (please contact CMY to request a free copy of the DVD).
