What kind of support can CMY provide?
CMY has workers based in the Northwest and Southeast regions of Melbourne. We are funded through the Newly Arrived Youth Support Service (NAYSS) and Reconnect to provide support to newly arrived and refugee young people, and their families.
Our service supports young people to talk about their needs and to develop positive strategies to be more connected with their family, school, friends and community.
We can provide:
- Personal support/counselling;
- Practical help – filling in Centrelink forms, enrolling in study, assistance with housing or getting to appointments, and family support;
- Pathways to resolving conflict with family, friends or school;
- Advocacy with other services;
- Information about options, or issues of concern;
- Support to link in with other services; and
- Social and recreational groups.
Our team operates within a holistic, strengths-based practice framework.
