What is Independent Person's Volunteer Training?

The Youth Referral Independent Person’s Program (YRIPP) is a Victorian program recruiting, training and supporting volunteers to work as Independent Persons (IPs). IP’s are called when police interview a young person where a parent/guardian is unavailable and ensures that the young person’s rights are protected whilst they are in police custody. To learn more , visit the YRIPP website.

Program Details

The YRIPP volunteer training and assessment program is free and is 25 hours in total. It consists of a range of written work, face-to-face learning, and self-directed activities. Independent Person’s Volunteer Training is delivered regularly in metropolitan Melbourne and regional Victoria.
