Community Support Worker CMY41

The Centre for Multicultural Youth (CMY) is a leading independent organisation that helps migrant and refugee young people build positive lives in Australia.

By focusing on young people’s strengths we are able to develop stronger communities, support other service providers and influence decision makers at local, state and national levels.

Reporting to the Senior Project Officer, the Community Support Workers will use a community development approach to build service’s capacity to engage CaLD families and communities in the cities of Casey, Brimbank, La Trobe Valley and Dandenong. 

The target communities are the Pasifika in Brimbank and Casey, the African communities in La Trobe Valley, and African and Afghan communities in Dandenong.

The successful applicants will be independent workers capable of setting and keeping to timelines. They will also have:

  • Strong links to and demonstrated experience working with the target communities within the required regions.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the issues facing, and experience working with, young people and their families who are from multicultural backgrounds.
  • Proven ability to engage with a diverse range of stakeholders from various sectors and backgrounds.
